永璇查干隆中毒之事 永璇夜访嘉庆，向他提出干隆之死有可疑，更言之凿凿说知道是谁人谋害干隆；嘉庆压下心头震惊，要求永璇说出调查发现。永璇指曾侍候干隆的常春死去后，同房的常冬又不知所终，加上年三十晚干隆的披风自焚，认为是懂妖法的白莲教所为，更怀疑常冬和常春都是白莲教中人。永璇自荐调查常春及干隆的起居作息，嘉庆允许他自由进出后宫，但要他隐密行事。 晚上五星连珠之际，嘉庆率宫中众人放天灯祈福，永璇向众皇爷暗示宫中有人作怪；嘉庆告知颖贵太妃，已命永璇查明宫中怪事的真相。 永璇、纪晓岚分别查常冬 嘉庆向小德子查问调查进度，可惜进展不大。小德子转交孝和睿所制的宁神香囊给嘉庆，指孝和睿关心嘉庆但被困景仁宫。 嘉庆闻二阿哥绵宁的病情好转，于是前往探望，却见孝和睿守候在皇子床前。孝和睿为违反禁足令向嘉庆认罪，得他宽恕。嘉庆向孝和睿坦言不想绵宁变得娇纵，免得将来难成大器，因帝皇之路险阻难行，故对绵宁苛刻，孝和睿安慰，嘉庆欣慰。可是嘉庆却又为孝和睿没坦言干清宫失火真相，一怒下着孝和睿回景仁宫。 永璇在后宫向众太监侍女问话时，諴妃主动前来提供有关常春的消息，指常冬离宫之事是得孝和睿恩准。永璇遂怀疑常冬，命人找他。 纪晓岚发现侍女秋月躲在一旁痛哭，向她查问得知她担心被常冬偷窃之事连累，于是纪晓岚答应替她追寻常冬下落。颖贵太妃疑惑为何嘉庆让永璇调查宫中怪事，和珅直言是嘉庆害怕被揭弑父之事所致，定会趁机对付永璇，这时永璘便可收渔人之利，并计划离间两人。 福长安遇袭被擒 纪晓岚与永璘在酒楼听说书，想不到说书人的故事竟暗喻嘉庆弑父夺皇位。纪晓岚将所见报告嘉庆，更指此流言已充斥于整个京城。嘉庆与谋臣商讨应对之策，朱圭建议杀一儆百，但刘墉提出可大赦天下及开仓济民，以实绩证明嘉庆宅心仁厚，亦收买人心，阻止和珅抹黑。 和珅与长媚讨论常冬之事，决定暂时观望不介入。福长安发现和琳失踪大感愤怒，不惜残杀和琳亲兵以得知他的行踪；有亲兵不愿被杀带领福长安寻找和琳，因此遇袭被白莲教所擒。 小德子向嘉庆报告永璇正追查常冬下落，而纪晓岚亦加入追踪行列，嘉庆听后大感奇怪。常冬终被纪晓岚发现，但中途却被他逃脱；常冬逃走期间，被永璇所擒。 常冬指出嘉庆毒害干隆 永璘探望颖贵太妃，却发现她食欲不振。… ...
