长媚暗中使计保和珅性命 正月十四，和珅欲杀福长安，但终被他说服放他离开。伤心不已的和珅步出房间，与正于亭中煮乌鸡的刘全会合。刘全边流泪边吃乌鸡，一面向和珅诉说数十年来照顾他们兄弟的点滴，而和珅亦回忆起自己与弟弟昔日相约再聚首时吃乌鸡宴的承诺，不禁黯然神伤。 治理好伤势的福长安与长媚会面，原来两人早已达成合作协议，以和琳之命换取和珅安全，亦阻止和珅杀嘉庆。福长安欲向长媚敬酒，期望日后再合作，但长媚却指两人的合作只此一次，以后各走各路。 拜祭和琳失控投江 丰绅殷德向嘉庆回报，指到天牢时已发现和琳气绝身亡，身旁更有一封已画了押的认罪书；嘉庆为和珅棋高一着而大为愤怒，众臣推测丰绅殷德前往大理寺时遇袭，以及让和琳写下认罪书会否同一帮人所为。刘墉指出和珅现时丧弟，必然大受打击方寸大乱，是对付他的最好时机；嘉庆亦为差点被炸死而震怒，命丰绅殷德全力调查，对疑人可执行宁枉莫纵，杀无赦的刑法。 和琳的头颅被高挂城门外，和珅看着心痛难过，对嘉庆仇恨更深。和珅偕家人到江边拜祭和琳，和珅激动欲冲到江中，刘全与长媚阻止，最后豆蔻救回和珅。朝上众臣对和琳死后枭首示众议论纷纷，但和珅却赞同嘉庆做法；这时嘉庆把和珅的牌匾带到朝上，要求他依约定自毁牌匾。 盛传和珅退隐离京 刘全在蝶衣的逍遥楼喝酒发泄，向她透露和珅已无心恋战，萌生退意辞官。和珅替长媚疗伤时讨论财产转移之事，和珅再次提出要长媚返回江南，长媚激动反驳。 嘉庆与重臣见面，刘墉指探子回报和珅欲退隐及调动财产之事，怀疑他想逃走。嘉庆立即询问丰绅殷德，但他毫不知情。朱圭提出和珅欲离开京城，必然会带赃款的官银离开，到时便是人赃并获的大好时机，丰绅殷德提出监视和珅心腹刘全可事半功倍。明亮回京，报告与白莲教大战后损兵二万，嘉庆与众臣大感愕然，着众臣提防和琳昔日猛将明亮。 嘉庆为了调查滥杀宫人 另一边厢，福长安私下会见明亮，提及私藏军队一事，坦言不愿再做嘉庆与和珅之棋子，宁隐藏实力，静观其变。嘉庆除去和琳后心情大好，将猫眼石手链交还给孝和睿，再问她为何着紧手链，孝和睿只道是孝淑睿戴过。 和珅向多尔济追究为何不出兵，颖贵太妃代他出面回应，又问和珅日后有何打算，和珅指其故意发放引退消息；颖贵太妃拉拢他助永璘夺帝位。… ...
